WW Gallery opens new space in Hatton Garden

Early April saw WW Gallery gallerists/curators Chiara   Williams & Debra Wilson launch a new absolutely stunning gallery space in jewel belt Hatton Garden EC2, in addition to the space they currently have in Hackney Downs.

The inaugural solo exhibition titled “Frightening Albert” by Phil Illingworth shows an  eclectic mix of works. The title  is inspired by and takes its name from, the notorious Watson experiments of 1920 surrounding stimulus response and conditioning.

The work is about painting – yet it is everything but paint on canvas. Rejecting the idea of a single image plane, Illingworth begins with notions of painting in 3-D, and then starts to explore.

Illingworth uses different material sources including found objects, such as a mattress that has been used as a canvas,  mounted and hung in a way a painting would but oozes conceptuality in the process (see image below).

Exhibition is showing until 5th May. Open Weds-Fridays 11am-6pm. Sats 11am-4pm.

About sandralouison
I have made loads of artistic contacts & would like to share knowledge with any other creative bods out there. I have a particular interest in the consultancy side liasing with artists, curators writers etc. Ilive in east london's london fields hackney area, which is thriving with artistic production. I like going to private views & other events on a regular basis which continues to widen my contacts.
